about the Facebook/Habermas project
February 12, 2018
Since the Facebook software often fails to load the “Our story” narrative validly on its “About“ page (Oct. 2022: The story feature doesn’t even exist now), I’ve removed my long narrative to here.
The Page honors the work of Jürgen Habermas as philosopher, theorist, and public intellectual, yet primarily as philosopher. Habermas gains much attention as political theorist and public intellectual, but his philosophical approach is not widely appreciated.
Since the 1960s, Jürgen Habermas has made lasting contributions to political philosophy, philosophy of language, social theory, moral theory, philosophy of law, and other areas, as his work involves many topics in the human sciences and contemporary life, recently including views on bioethics, religious meaning, naturalism, and the future of Europe. (He’s well-known in Europe as a public intellectual).
He discursively finds reason for democratic humanity in the nature of our communicative life, but he greatly exemplifies his own interdisciplinary view of philosophy by providing a rigorous way to integrate views of language, moral consciousness, social evolution, political life, etc. beyond dogmatic metaphysics.
Postings by me as “Habermas“ result from being the Page owner, but are done with high fidelity to Habermas’s Project (I hope) and for promoting interest in his work. The Facebook Page is properly named, but I have my own interests, in light of decades of engagement with Habermas’ works.
I’m committed to not confusing the difference in postings here.

Though the Facebook Page was launched August 2013, it continues a project that began via Yahoo! Groups, 2002. For more information about beginnings , see “Archives of discussion,” halfway down my project “Resources” page.
