It’s not to be had, of course—though a capability for prospecting may shape appealing conceptual fictions.
What else can one do?
Like a fictional telos of one’s own life, horizons of life—personal, cultural, conceptual, social, political—may be practical appeals for fidelities which become fruitful.
But for life, seafaring sees horizons transformed by engaged times. Any sense of Telos is evolving.
